Provides and coordinates nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership when working with other health team members to establish and maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Participates in unit-based shared leadership activities that improve the quality of care provided to patients and enhance the work environment.

  • Uses the nursing process and interdisciplinary team approach to consistently assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care to meet identified self-care deficits.
  • Delegate nursing care activities to and monitors care given by appropriate care team members in accordance with patient needs and the personal/professional capabilities and qualifications.
  • Communicates pertinent care information to multidisciplinary team members.
  • Documents care provided according to policies and procedures of the Health System.
  • Complies with established nursing care standards, protocols, policies and procedures and Health System policies.
  • Participates in unit and nursing practice activities and projects for improvement in patient  care.
  • Participates in education/orientation of patient, family and colleagues.
  • Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth and development.



Minimum Education:

  • Graduate from and approved nursing program, BSN preferred

Minimum Work Experience:

  • 3-5 Years experience required

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Current Iowa Registered Nursing license. 

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Machines: Pumps (IV, PCA, Epidural, Feeding), Chest tubes, Suction, IV’s, Pulse Oximeter
  • Administrative: Blood transfusion, ET, Infection Control, PT/OT, Inhaler, Order Entry, BLS, ACLS within 3 months of hire, certification within 1 year of hire.
