The peer support specialist for the Mental Health Recovery Center is responsible to support and enhance the lives of those diagnosed with Mental Illness by providing empathy, hope and support for peers on a mutual journey of recovery.
Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Lived experience with a serious mental illness with demonstrated stability in recovery. Valid driver’s license. Complete Peer Support Training. Write, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
Preferred: Experience in working with adults with mental illness. Certified as a Peer Support Specialist or Peer Recovery Specialist through the Iowa Board of Certification. Knowledge of community resources.
