Position exists to use own recovery experience to provide support to the recovery of others and to help improve the human service system.

Responsibilities

Will assist recovery center members with referrals and linkage to obtain employment, food, clothing, safe housing, disability benefits, medical care, skilled clinical services and teaching the skills to meet their basic needs as part of their recovery. Will assess each situation, intervene, assist and refer in a manner which supports an individual's self-directed plan of recovery.Will maintain a thorough knowledge of community resources, maintain awareness of crises and assist with necessary precautions, and maintain awareness of activities, safety and security within and around the facility. Will effectively facilitate groups/classes that pertain to recovery using role plays and practicing skills.

Qualifications

Minimum High School diploma or GED. Requires individual to be actively involved with own mental health recovery plan and have developed a recovery story willing to share in appropriate situations. Must be able to work in a team environment; Must have knowledge of cognitive deficits and their impact on behavior. Must have basic knowledge of Must complete Peer Academy within 6 months and test for CRSS after completing 2000 work hours.
