    UnityPoint Health- Trinity is accepting applications for the Crisis stabilization Unit for the Robert Young Center Rock Island, IL. The recent advances in behavioral health have given way to richer, deeper, treatment programs that put the patient at the center of each care plan. Since our founding, the Robert Young Center has championed mental health care advocacy, offering services under UnityPoint Health - Trinity.


    Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager for Robert Young Center’s Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and in collaboration with the Director of Emergency Services the QMHP will;

    • Provide direct mental health and substance abuse assessment, intervention and consultation to identified individuals, interact with patients, family, and support systems to reduce barriers and promote progression of care.
    • Provides assessment, counseling, information and referral, advocacy services, and other resource assistance as indicated. Contributes toward accomplishment of patient’s Plan of Care goals by providing care activities as assigned by the charge nurse.


    Completes mental health and substance abuse assessments to individuals in need of behavioral health services.

    • Provides triage, emergency mental health and substance abuse evaluations, consultation to individuals identified as having mental health and/or substance abuse needs; participates in the multidisciplinary team planning.
    • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with a wide variety of clients and professionals. Strong clinical and diagnostic capabilities will be needed. Refers to community social service resources.
    • Evaluates each walk-in, emergency, and routine client for diagnosis, recommends and authorizes appropriate service (including interviewing client and accompanying family or friends; providing crisis intervention; arriving at disposition; consulting psychiatrists; documentation).
    • Provides brief solution focused individual, family and group counseling as needed to stabilize a crisis situation. Provides community crisis interventions and follow-up services.
    • Obtains third party (insurance) authorizations for recommended services.
    • Consults with psychiatrists according to RYC policy and procedure on cases requiring MD supervision and/or consultation.

     Contributes toward accomplishment of patient’s Plan of Care goals by providing care activities as assigned by the nurse.

    • Orients patient and family members to environment, unit/department and hospital facilities/routine.

    Promotes, monitors and maintains a safe clean environment.

    • Assists with identifying safety needs of patients and modifying the environment to meet these needs, i.e. accessible call light, furniture/personal item placement, etc.
    • Performs light housekeeping functions to maintain clean, neat and orderly work/patient care areas.
    • Adheres to established Universal/Standard Precautions.

    Contributes effectively to the communication needs of the unit/department.

    • Acknowledges patients, healthcare providers and visitors upon arrival to the unit/department. Offers assistance where appropriate.
    • Documents objective data related to performed patient care activities.
    • Engages in collaborative communication, i.e. notifying current providers of a patients disposition
    • Identifies and reports patient care concerns in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrates an open honest relationship with co-workers.
    • Practices good telephone etiquette.
    • Performs clerical duties as assigned (documentation of services, charge entry, form filing, etc)

    Provides for efficient operation of unit/department by taking initiative and assuming other responsibilities as needed, i.e. obtaining equipment, restocking supplies, running errands, etc.

    • Meets educational/competency requirements per policy
    • Progression toward goals from previous evaluation/orientation completion.


    EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Minimum requirements for this position include a Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field. Independent licensure as a LCSW or LCPC with previous experience in psychiatric services


    KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS: Must have interpersonal and communication skills necessary to deal with a wide variety of clients and professionals with the ability to negotiate and establish effective working relationships with a multidisciplinary healthcare and community service team. Must demonstrate ability to identify and act upon psychosocial needs and work independently in an outcome orientated environment. Strong leadership skills and ability to form professional working relationships with peers. Ability to document in, have knowledge of and use of the computer


    LICENSES, REGRISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS: LCSW/LISW or LCPC in the state of Illinois and Iowa. Must be licensed in Illinois to begin. Iowa licensing process must be initiated within first 3 months of employment and awarded within 6 months of hire. Basic CPR is required.
