Office support staff, under the direction of the Manager, is responsible for scheduling, registering, admitting and discharging patients who are scheduled at the Community Cancer Center This includes processing paperwork, gathering accurate and complete demographic and insurance information. Answering multi-line phone systems and delivering messages to physicians and staff promptly while always conveying Allen standards of behaviors.
Greet patients, families, or significant others when arriving for appointments.
Provide assistance or direction to complete required medical information forms as needed.
Obtain insurance information. Makes sure all records needed for patient care are retrieved and available. Notifies appropriate staff through chart placement or verbally how patient scheduling is progressing. Answer telephones with courteous etiquette in a timely manner .Schedules appointments in courteous, calm, and timely manner.
Delegate tasks as needed to keep daily work schedule on time and accurate. Inputting of patient demographics into the computer.
May be asked to perform other duties to facilitate a smooth flow of the office.
High school diploma or equivalent OR higher.Keyboard experience with emphasis on accuracy
Excellent interpersonal relationship skills to work with patients, patient families, doctors, doctors’ staff and other department staff. This involves both telephone and face-to-face contacts.
Ability to perform multi-tasks while maintaining accuracy and organizational skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy
Graduate of accredited school of medical secretary or equivalent
One to two years of current experience in medical office setting
Epic Hyperspace and Allscripts familiarity preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology
