The Patient Scheduler will schedule tests and procedures for out-patients and in-patients. The Scheduler will coordinate the exams according to preparation, patient convenience, doctor request and department guidelines. When indicated , the scheduler will seek assistance from the RN Scheduler for any patient related issues or when the medical necessity determinations can not be resolved. The scheduler will also act as liaison between offices and other hospital departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES/TASKS: TECHNICAL/ADMINISTRATIVE/CLINICAL: Demonstrates competence in the skills, (processes, procedures, and equipment) necessary to carry out assigned duties as identified below.
A. Schedules tests and procedures.
B. Maintains good rapport with physician's office personnel.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Training or equivalent experience computerized order entry and general clerical functions via computer. On-the-job training necessary computer skills. Previous medical/clerical experience with demonstrated proficiency is preferred. Basic computer skills preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS: Knowledge of current testing and preparation is preferred. Knowledge of current therapies and drugs is preferred. Must have ability to communicate well verbally with a variety of persons.
