  • Overview

    Work hours will be days, Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, for 80 hours per pay period, and as need. You will be required to flex to other shifts as needed. There is a holiday and weekend rotation. 

     

    Possesses general knowledge and skills in routine operations and maintenance of the hospital’s various facilities.

     

    Under general guidance of more senior technicians and supervision by the Facilities Manager, shall be responsible for the safe and efficient operations, preventive maintenance, routine maintenance and minor repairs of, but not limited to, mechanical and electrical equipment, i.e., steam boilers, all HVAC systems, all refrigeration systems, emergency generators, utility distribution systems, all chilled water equipment, building automation systems, buildings, plumbing, sanitary, medical gasses, sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, nurse call systems and audiovisual equipment (televisions, VCR’s, etc.).  Completion of this work will contribute positively to the safety, health and comfort of the patients, visitors, and employees of UnityPoint Health – Dubuque, Finley Hospital.

    Responsibilities

    Technical Tasks

    • Perform regularly scheduled Preventive Maintenance procedures on assigned equipment.
    • Completes 100% of Compliance PM’s within the month they are assigned.
    • Self-assigns and completes routine work requests. May be assigned work requests by Manager as appropriate.

    Administrative Tasks

    • Utilizes WebTMA system to enter records of work completed.
      • Enters details about work performed, date completed, time spent etc.
    • Utilizes computers for reference in performing duties. Capable of review of online manuals, online drawings etc.
    • Use of email system for communication.
    • Utilizes other systems such as the RL Incident Reporting system and Kronos for timekeeping.
    • Identifies parts and supplies needed, places orders and documents these orders for the AP process.
    • Attends continuing education events as appropriate to role and approved.

    Compliance and Quality

    • Practice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, JCAHO, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
    • Participate in approved training programs to further job knowledge.
    • May serve on committees and work groups for problem solving and process improvement.

    Qualifications

    Requirements: 

    • High School Diploma/GED.
    • 3 years of previous Maintenance experience.
    • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. 
    • Basic level skill with Microsoft Outlook and Web Browsing programs. 
    • Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position. 

    Preferred/Not Required: 

    • Diploma from a Trade School. 
    • 3 years of previous Maintenance experience within a healthcare enviornment.
