  • Overview

    This position is primarily responsible for overseeing Hospital Registration, Emergency Department (ED) Registration, Financial Clearance, and Financial Counseling functions. As the unit manager, this individual is responsible for issue identification and resolution, fulfillment of service level functional obligations, and governing day to day staff management. The Patient Access Manager will review area metrics daily, analyze staff productivity and quality, and deliver timely feedback to resolve departmental issues. In addition, this individual will liaise with department management and patients to manage concerns and inquiries. Finally, this position is responsible for promoting a positive patient experience and ensuring patient satisfaction.

    Bachelor’s degree in a related field or direct and applicable work experience.

    3 years of hospital or clinic patient registration experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.

    Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

    Comprehensive understanding of operations and leading practices across the revenue cycle continuum.

    Clear understanding of the impact financial counseling, registration, and ED registration activities has on revenue cycle operations and financial performance.

    Knowledge of legal restrictions and protocols related to ED registration and collections activities.

    Ability to establish and manage complex and effective relationships with regional leadership and peers.

    Ability to lead and motivate groups and individuals as well as think creatively and strategically to successfully mediate and negotiate with individuals and groups internally.

    Skilled in managing various leadership layers and function types.

    Proven ability to generate and govern strategic initiatives, drive decision making practices, and gain leadership buy-in.

    Exceptional organizational skills, with the demonstrated ability to drive functions in a complex, consensus-oriented environment.

    Self-directed and motivated with strong analytical skills, systematic and orderly planning abilities, and high attention to details.

    Strong written and oral communication skills with ability to create and conduct presentations effectively.

    Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
