1. Performs a variety of clinical and clerical activities to expedite the patient flow and business activities of the medical office.
Assists in the maintenance of a therapeutic environment that promotes effective and cost efficient care and that provides for the safety of patients, students, staff and visitors. 1. Possesses knowledge about safety policies of the office, as well as the established policies and procedures of the organization. 2. Works independently within the established guidelines of the practice. 3. Responsible for keeping exam rooms and lab stocked. 4. Actively participates in the cleaning and sterilization of instruments, if indicated. 5. Assists the office nurses in scheduling patients for tests or procedures. 6. Assists the nurse case managers in opportunities to promote healthy preventative services by tracking and collecting appropriate data. Assists the Registered Nurse as needed with procedures and exams. 1. Possess knowledge and skills necessary to assist the Registered Nurse in performing procedures or examinations. 2. Possess knowledge and skills necessary to perform various clinical tasks such as taking temperature and providing first aid. 3. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to students of all ages. 4. Participates in learning new procedures, policies, equipment and treatments Assists the Registered Nurse to assure quality health care is provided to the students 1. Monitors and maintains accurate, up-to-date records of school compliance programs for immunizations, physical examines and visual/hearing screenings. 2. Reports all non-compliance cases to the Registered Nurse and/or building Principal in a timely manner. 3. Monitors and maintains accurate, up-to-date cumulative health records (including non-compliance reports) of all students. 4. Assist the Registered Nurse in delivering appropriate health care services to all students. 5. Attends to the daily health needs of students referred for services by the teacher or school office. 6. Provide first aid services to students. 7. Dispense all student medication during the school day. 8. Monitor and maintain accurate, current records of all students taking medications. 9. Check for pediculosis, maintain appropriate records/documentation, approve re-admittance and make parental contacts as appropriate to individual cases. 10. Maintain school's health supplies, keeping inventory organized and accessible. 11. Enter and maintain accurate student health information in the computerized student information management system. 12. Complete, maintain and communicate all communicable disease incidences to the Registered Nurse and all other appropriate agencies. 13. Attain appropriate training and provide vision/hearing screening tests and maintain accurate, up-to-date records. 14. Assist Registered Nurse with health clinics and sports physicals. 15. Assist Registered Nurse and/or building Principal in the completion of other health care related duties/responsibilities as deemed appropriate and necessary. Assures that patient education is provided when appropriate, in a caring and professional manner. Assists the clerical staff in assuring optimal workflow and quality patient care. 1. Provides instructions to patients when necessary on preparing for tests, surgery, etc. 2. Assists the nursing staff with patient education involving a wide variety of health related subjects. 3. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development in order to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information required identifying each patient's age specific needs. 4. Participates in continuing education by attending seminars and various meetings. 5. Assists the clerical staff by answering the telephone and taking messages; scheduling appointments for surgery, tests and office visits; retrieving charts for the day; filing any papers or charts that need to be filed. 6. Assists with a full range of front office operations as required. 7. Assists the clerical staff by copying and collating medical records and patient education materials. 8. Competent in the use of all office computer systems. Assures that student education is provided when appropriate, in a caring and professional manner. Assists the school's front office staff by providing quality care to students and optimal workflow. 1. Provides instructions to students/parents regarding health conditions such as pediculosis. 2. Assists the Registered Nurse with student education involving a wide variety of health related subjects. 3. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development in order to assess data reflective of the student's status and interpret appropriate information required identifying each student's age specific needs. 4. Participates in continuing education by attending seminars and various meetings. 5. Assists front office staff by answering the telephone and taking messages, filing any papers or charts that need to be filed. 6. Assists with a full range of front office operations as required. 7. Competent in the use of all computer systems. 8. Possess the ability to interact and communicate effectively in a caring and friendly manner with a variety of contacts within the school setting.
Education: 1. Certificate Program in the field(s) of medical office assisting Preferred Credentials: 1. CPR Experience: 1. 0-1 years of experience in/with clinical and clerical experience in a physician office, computer knowledge, detail oriented and have the ability to work with a wide variety of people. Preferred.
