    RN Neonatal Speciality Care Unit Moline/Bettendorf, 0.01 FTE (works as needed).Bring your nursing experience to care for our youngest patients.

    Coordinates and implements patient care under the direction of the Nurse Manager.  Performs work of considerable difficulty. Demonstrates competence in the skills, (processes, procedures, and equipment) necessary to carry out assigned duties as identified below. Demonstrated competence in recognizing and responding to patients physical, mental, emotional and developmental needs should be evaluated in relation to the patient populations served as appropriate for each responsibility.

    Responsibilities

    Implements the Nursing Process in providing patient care:

     

    Assessment - completes initial assessment within 24 hours of admission, completes physiological, psychological, spiritual, and educational assessment of the patient/family. Maintains ongoing assessment following established nursing care standards. Assessment accurately reflects patient status.  Documents nursing assessment clearly and concisely. Notifies physician of initial assessment and pertinent changes in patient status. Communicates patient status to Nurse Manager in a timely manner.

     

    Nursing Diagnosis - Identifies comprehensive list of patient/family problems/needs including potential problems. Planning - Initiates nursing care plan at time of admission consistent with the medical plan of care. Collaborates with co-workers, physicians, other disciplines, patient, and family to identify individualized plan of care. Reviews and revises plan of care daily. Incorporates medical plan of care into nursing care plan. Develops realistic and measurable patient centered goals. Includes discharge planning and patient teaching needs in plan of care.

     

    Implementation - Demonstrates competence in the administration of age appropriate nursing care and implementation of physician orders. Implements age appropriate nursing care in accordance with established standards of nursing care, policies, procedures, and state and federal law. Demonstrates leadership skills in the coordination and provision of nursing care. Assigns responsibilities to other nursing staff consistent with staff competencies and licensure. Documents nursing care and response to interventions, effectiveness, and complications. Implements teaching guidelines in a timely manner and documents patient/family understanding and effectiveness.

     

    Evaluation - Incorporates information for patient, family, and nursing staff to evaluate patient's achievement of goals. Consults with patient, peers, physicians, Nurse Manager, and other hospital staff to determine efficacy of plan. Progression toward goals from previous evaluation/orientation completion. 

    Qualifications

    Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.  Previous acute care experience preferred. Considerable knowledge of the nursing care required for the patient, inclusive of the nursing process.  Good knowledge of teaching/learning theories.  Ability to problem solve; to plan, organize, and direct nursing activities; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

     

    Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois. Dual licensure in the state of Iowa required within the year of hire date. Must maintain current CPR certification.
