The Acute Care Coordinator is responsible for observing cardiac monitors, interpreting cardiac arrhythmias, reporting cardiac arrhythmias to the appropriate persons, and performing secretarial, receptionist and clerical duties on the unit, under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
Partners with the RN and other healthcare team members to assist in the detection and documentation of arrhythmias and monitors cardiac rhythms of patient’s per orders. Consults and seeks out guidance from RN and/or other healthcare team members, as appropriate and when completing new or unfamiliar tasks or duties or interpretation of rhythms. Obtains, records and/or accurately enters data into the EMR, or prints rhythm strips for Health Information Management (Medical Records). Hand-offs will be done with attention to detail and with safety as a high priority. Satisfactory completion of cardiac arrhythmia classes and ability to interpret cardiac rhythms within six months of hiring. Prior medical terminology or medical office coursework preferred. Six months of nursing assistant or prior clerical experience in a healthcare field. Minimum of one year nursing assistant experience preferred. Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Multicultural sensitivity. Microsoft Office – basic computer skills. Customer/patient focused. Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions.
