Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager for Robert Young Center’s Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and in collaboration with the Director of Emergency Services the QMHP will;
Demonstrates competence in the skills, (processes, procedures, and equipment) necessary to carry out assigned duties as identified below. Demonstrated competence in recognizing and responding to patients physical, mental, emotional and developmental needs should be evaluated in relation to the patient populations served as appropriate for each responsibility.
Completes mental health and substance abuse assessments to individuals in need of behavioral health services.
Contributes toward accomplishment of patient’s Plan of Care goals by providing care activities as assigned by the nurse.
Promotes, monitors and maintains a safe clean environment.
Contributes effectively to the communication needs of the unit/department.
Provides for efficient operation of unit/department by taking initiative and assuming other responsibilities as needed, i.e. obtaining equipment, restocking supplies, running errands, etc.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Minimum requirements for this position include a Master’s degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field. Independent licensure as a LCSW or LCPC with previous experience in psychiatric services.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS: Must have interpersonal and communication skills necessary to deal with a wide variety of clients and professionals with the ability to negotiate and establish effective working relationships with a multidisciplinary healthcare and community service team. Must demonstrate ability to identify and act upon psychosocial needs and work independently in an outcome orientated environment. Strong leadership skills and ability to form professional working relationships with peers. Ability to document in, have knowledge of and use of the computer.
LICENSES, REGRISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS: LCSW/LISW or LCPC in the state of Illinois and Iowa. Must be licensed in Illinois to begin. Iowa licensing process must be initiated within first 3 months of employment and awarded within 6 months of hire. Basic CPR is required.
