    UnityPoint Health - Fort Dodge

    Surgical Tech - $2,000 Sign-on Bonus

    FTE: .70 (Part-time, 28 hours per week)
    Shift: Monday - Friday 7am-3:30pm w/ rotating call

    Responsibilities

     

     

     

    • Contributes to an individualized professional plan of care, reflective of changing patient needs and outcomes during the procedure.
    • Provides nursing care in accordance with nursing standards and the patient's plan of care.
    • Performs scrub duties according to Surgery standards.
    • Maintain aseptic technique.
    • Organizes instruments and supplies on Mayo stand and back table.
    • Demonstrates correct draping technique.
    • Performs accurate sponge, instrument and sharps count.
    • Identifies and prepares medication to be administered by physician.
    • Handles and labels specimens correctly.
    • Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.
    • Participates in unit operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of nursing unit and maintaining awareness of resource utilization.
    • Participates in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, performance improvement activities, standards development and review, hospital/nursing committees, and other related activates.
    • Demonstrates positive customer relation skills and follows UnityPoint Health - Trinity Regional Medical Center Standards of Behavior.
    • Adheres to hospital and unit specific policies and procedures.  

    Qualifications

     

    Education:                  

    Surgical Technologist. 

     

    Licensure:                  

    Certified Surgical Technologist certificate. Must become certified within 6 months of hire.

     

    Experience:                

    None

     

    Skills/Abilities:            

    Must demonstrate knowledge and skills required for specialized areas of assignment. 

    Must be able to demonstrate knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to provide nursing care appropriate to surgical patient from infant through geriatric.

    Ability to exercise good judgment, maintain effective  interpersonal relationships and adapt to change.
