    Infection Prevention Coordinator

    UnityPoint Health-Methodist Campus

    Shift: Full-time/40 hrs per week 8A-5P

     

    Summary:  

     

     The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for the detection of nosocomial infections, infections control education, and data analysis.

    Responsibilities

    Assists in organization wide compliance with current standards of JCAHO, IDPH, and other regulating bodies, ensuring ongoing compliance or active progress towards compliance.

     

    1. Maintains current scientific literature based policy and procedures.

    2. Maintains updated knowledge base of regulatory standards.

    3. Demonstrates ability to complete job tasks with minimal direction.

    4. Monitors construction sites for quality control measures

    5. Serves as a resource and educator for MMGAssists in the identification of opportunities for HAI risk reduction.

     

    Ensures adequate data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of findings.

     

    1. Performs accurate record keeping activities for infection control in accordance with NHSN protocols

    2. Maintains confidential information.

    3. Implements countermeasures to reduce nosocomial infections as necessary.

    4. Demonstrates appropriate interpretation and use of data.

    5. Assists with educational opportunities and initiates education as indicated for communicable disease and HAI.

    6. Demonstrates a knowledge base in statistical analysis interpretation.Assists in the identification of opportunities for nosocomial infection risk reduction.

     

    Ensures adequate data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of findings.

     

    1. Performs accurate record keeping activities for infection control in accordance with NHSN protocols

    2. Maintains confidential information.

    3. Implements countermeasures to reduce nosocomial infections as necessary.

    4. Demonstrates appropriate interpretation and use of data.

    6. Demonstrates a knowledge base in statistical analysis interpretation.

     

    Assists in the implementation of a coordinated process to reduce the risk of both endemic and epidemic nosocomial infections in patients and healthcare workers

     

    1. Assists in performing and analyzing annual TB risk assessments.

    2. Demonstrates clinical competence and is perceived as a clinical resource to staff in Infection Control.

    3. Researches and utilizes best practice standards of care.

    4. Provides ongoing education regarding infection control.

    5. Maintains a close working relationship with the Employee Health Department.

    6. Maintains a working relationship with the CDC NHSN Program and Public Health authorities

     

    Performs infection surveillance

     

    1. Demonstrated ability to accurately identify Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI).

    2. Demonstrates accurate computer entry skills.

    3. Accurately enters HAI data into the NHSN database and runs NHSN reports as requested.

    4. Possesses sound knowledge of CDC NHSN nosocomial infection definitions.

    5. Is alert to possible microbiological trends and infection trends.

    6. Is alert to possible quality of care concerns.

    7. Performs special data analysis as requested.

    8. Performs special chart review as requested.

    Qualifications

    Education:

     

    1. Associate's Degree in the field(s) of nursing required

     

    2. Bachelor's Degree in the field(s) of nursing Preferred

     

    3. Individuals hired after August 1, 2013 must obtain a BSN within 2.5 years of hire

     

    Credentials:

     

    1. Registered Nurse in the state of IL

     

    Experience:

     

    1. 3-5 years of experience in/with infection control preferred.
