    Responsibilities

    To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care at Registered Nurse skill level, in collaboration with the Medical Plan of Care, with a minimum of assistance. To function as primary care leader, associate, or charge nurse so that optimum quality of patient care is maintained according to the philosophy and objectives of Allen Hospital. To exercise accountability responsibility, authority, autonomy, and act as a role model and resource person with expanded theory and expertise. * Perform pre and/or post-operative critical care for surgical patients. * Maintains department competencies related to proper care of patients. * Responsible for managing equipment and responding to emergencies, signaling concerns to Physicians within a timely manner. Operates equipment and performs technical skills according to policies and standards; learns new skills and seeks assistance appropriately. * Responsible for sedation administration and recognizing and assessing the need for reversal and airway management. * Ability to flex schedule and adapt to changes in workflow. * Able to respond to call as soon as needed, but no later than 1 hour. * Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Current license in the state of Iowa or meets criteria established by Iowa Board of Nursing. Minimum of Associates Degree in Nursing required or comparable experience. Bachelors of Science in Nursing preferred. Ability to plan, assess, implement, and evaluate the nursing care delivered to a group of patients. Ability to assume responsibility for personal and professional growth. Able to meet the physical demands on file in the Human Resources Department.
