  • Overview

    Provides care for critically ill patients in a 13 bed mixed Coronary and Intensive Care Unit. 

    Responsibilities

    Functions in accordance with the Iowa Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses (Iowa Administrative Code 655, Chapter 6, & 6.2) and the American Nurses Association (ANA) Scope and Standards of Practice (ANA, 2010). Provides and coordinates nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process. Completes documentation to assure an accurate record of patient’s care. Utilizes critical thinking in making independent judgments, and maintains responsibility for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients. Collaborates with physicians and other professionals in planning and implementing care within hospital policy and legal limitations. Assesses needs of patients and families, provides appropriate teaching to facilitate discharge planning, and makes the necessary referrals to community agencies to provide continuity of care.

    Qualifications

    Graduate of accredited nursing program, BSN is preferred. Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English. Completion of Essential of Critical Care Orientation with a score of 80% or greater in each section within 6 months of hire. A Needs Assessment is offered for experienced Critical Care Nurses and a score of 80% or greater for each section is required. Experience is preferred. A nursing graduate may be considered for hire. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa. BCLS certification is required, ACLS certification within 6 months of hire is required. TNCC/TCAR certification within 12 months of hire is required. Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) is encouraged. Other information: Current Iowa License to practice as a RN. BSN preferred. Dept of Labor Level III (Medium) Work. Candidates must successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment strength and agility test at Medium Level of Work.
