Overview

 

Position Summary

This position is responsible for the routine business office functions. This position performs sound, accurate and timely bookkeeping procedures in relation to all aspects of the routine office duties.  This position is also responsible for the collection and communication of all incoming and outgoing information to the pertinent customers.

 

This is an overnight position working from 10:00PM to 6:30AM.

 

Responsibilities

 

Position Accountabilities

  1. Responsible for the registering and discharging of all patients.
  2. Responsible for the smooth and accurate flow of all internal and external telephone communications for all customers.
  3. Responsible for collation and inputting of inpatient and outpatient charges.
  4. Responsible for keeping daily outpatient statistic records.
  5. Responsible for scheduling appointments and ancillary services.
  6. Secures and verifies information relative to patient financial status or insurance coverage.
  7. Receives and records payment on accounts and issues receipts.
  8. Assists in the care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
  9. Attends meetings as required.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  11. Follows established department policies and procedure, objectives, improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Completes variance reports per policy.

 

Customer Service:

  1. Address patients, visitors, families and co-workers in a pleasant, respectful and courteous manner at all times.
  2. Respond quickly and appropriately to inquiries and requests.
  3. Maintain confidentiality of all patient-hospital or physician related information.  Refrain from gossip and speak in low tones in appropriate areas.
  4. Communicate, cooperate and perform related duties with co-workers in a courteous and efficient manner to achieve customer satisfaction.
  5. Address co-workers according to Commitment to Co-Workers at all times.
  6. Cooperate with staff in a constructive and supportive manner
  7. Demonstrate ethical conduct and practices.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Education

High School Graduate or GED

 

Minimum Experience

Previous business office experience preferred

Adding Machine

Personal Computer

Photocopier

Computational, typing and filing skills
