Overview

Position is Full Time: 40 hours per week.

Shift: May vary depending on work, but typically is between 7am to 7pm.  Will include some weekend coverage as well.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs Technician skills according to hospital policies and procedures.  Completes skills and tasks as assigned. 

·           Completes tasks in decontamination area including processing instruments, disassembly and cleaning of Herman Miller lockers and cleaning of nursing unit equipment.

·           Completes tasks in linen area by appropriately folding linen and assembling packs.

·           Assembles trays of instruments and wraps individual instruments for surgery.

·           Completes tasks in packaging area including wrapping pan sets and trays and individual instruments for nursing units and other hospital areas.

·           Assists in keeping Ortho Fracture room clean.

·           Completes other tasks as assigned by the manager/charge nurse such as cleaning and restocking supplies. 

·           Functions in daily assigned duties and emergency situations in accordance with unit standards and hospital policy. 

·           Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.

·           Functions in day-to-day and emergency situations in accordance with nursing standards and as assigned by the manager/charge nurse. 

·           Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services. 

·           Participates in unit operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of nursing unit and maintaining awareness of resource utilization. 

·           Participates in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, performance improvement activities, and other related activities. 

·           Assists with supply and inventory control as assigned by manager/charge nurse.

·           Completes environmental tasks as assigned. 

·           Demonstrates positive customer relation skills.

·           Adheres to department and hospital policies and procedures.  

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:                   High school diploma or G.E.D.

Licensure:                   None.

Experience:                 None

Skills/Abilities:             Ability to learn concepts of and demonstrate, sterilization, disinfection, packaging of surgical instruments, making packs and processing surgical trays.   Ability to exercise good judgment, maintains effective interpersonal relationships and adapts to change.  Ability to organize work.
