Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager for Robert Young Center’s Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and in collaboration with the Director of Emergency Services the QMHP will;
Completes mental health and substance abuse assessments to individuals in need of behavioral health services.
Contributes toward accomplishment of patient’s Plan of Care goals by providing care activities as assigned by the nurse.
Promotes monitors and maintains a safe clean environment.
Contributes effectively to the communication needs of the unit/department.
Provides for efficient operation of unit/department by taking initiative and assuming other responsibilities as needed, i.e. obtaining equipment, restocking supplies, running errands, etc.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
A licensed social worker (LSW) possessing at least a master's degree in social work and licensed under the Clinical Social Work and Social Work Practice Act [225 ILCS 20] with specialized training in mental health services or with at least 2 years experience in mental health services; or
A licensed professional counsel (LPC) or possessing at least a master's degree and licensed under the Professional Counselor and Clinical Professional Counselor Licensing Act [225 ILCS 107] with specialized training in mental health services or with at least two years experience in mental health services or,
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES & SKILLS: Possesses the ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to a range of client situations; has the ability to accurately assess and diagnose; can develop treatment plans and interventions with clients; possesses interpersonal skills, professional attitude and understands the ethical standards of behavioral healthcare. Possesses good written and oral communication skills. Has the ability to plan and organize their work. Is able to recognize signs of suicidal behavior and assess for lethality.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS: LPC or LSW in the state of Illinois and Iowa. Must be licensed in Illinois to begin. Iowa licensing process must be initiated within first 3 months of employment and awarded within 6 months of hire. Professional License as defined above, if applicable. Basic CPR is required.
