Cleaning and Maintenance
• Perform specialized cleaning of ORs between cases and at end-of-day, ensuring compliance with department standards and AORN guidelines.
• Execute wet mopping and machine scrubbing in surgical areas (OR, Cath Lab, CTU, Endo), maintaining sterile environments for patient safety.
• Clean and disinfect assigned areas, including patient rooms, outpatient areas, and support rooms, using approved methods to meet department expectations.
• Operate walk-behind or riding floor scrubbers and use ladders to clean light fixtures, vents, and cubicle curtains, adhering to safety protocols.
• Assist in cleaning and returning OR equipment to storage, ensuring proper handling and organization for surgical readiness.
Compliance and Safety
• Handle and dispose off soiled linen, trash, and biohazard materials appropriately, following infection control and safety protocols.
• Clean hazardous spills, including blood or bodily fluids, using trained procedures to maintain a safe environment.
• Deliver biohazard trash, pharmaceutical waste, and sharps containers to storage areas, labeling and preparing them for pickup in compliance with regulations.
• Maintain and clean EVS equipment, carts, and closets, ensuring they are stocked and functional, and report repair needs to maintenance or biomed.
• Wear proper PPE and follow correct lifting, pushing, and pulling techniques to ensure personal and workplace safety.
Customer Service and Engagement
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, nursing staff, and physicians to support a positive and professional hospital environment.
• Use the UPH interface system to receive assigned tasks, check email, and access the intranet and benefits portal for operational updates.
• Complete and submit daily schedule sheets at the end of each shift, ensuring accurate documentation of completed tasks.
• Communicate with customers and use signage (e.g., “wet floor” signs) to ensure a safe workplace during cleaning projects.
