We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Weight Loss Specialty Clinic at Methodist Downtown Des Moines. This is a great opportunity for nurses who are passionate about helping patients achieve their health and wellness goals while providing personalized, ongoing support. Whether you have previous weight management experience or are looking to expand your clinical knowledge in this specialty, we welcome your application.

In this role, you will support patients throughout their weight management journey by providing clinical assessment, education, medication support, and ongoing follow-up. You’ll work closely with providers and the specialty care team to help patients develop sustainable strategies for improving their health and achieving their goals.

• Assess patient calls and electronic messages to determine needs and appropriate next steps.
• Provide patient education and ongoing support related to weight management, nutrition, medications, and healthy lifestyle changes.
• Monitor patient progress, treatment response, and potential medication side effects.
• Assist with medication management, including patient education and follow-up related to weight loss medications.
• Coordinate follow-up appointments, referrals, testing, and other aspects of the patient’s care plan.
• Communicate patient concerns, progress, and clinical findings with providers and members of the care team.
• Support patients in setting realistic goals and maintaining progress throughout their weight management journey.
• Provide individualized coaching and encouragement to help patients develop sustainable lifestyle changes.
• Accurately document patient assessments, education, care plans, and follow-up in the electronic health record.
• Promote a supportive, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment for patients throughout their care.

• Registered Nurse (RN) – Active/Unencumbered RN license in state of practice or compact license including state of practice.

• All levels of RN experience will be considered. Prior experience in weight loss or specialty care is a plus, but not required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
