Shift: Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm

Are you an RN looking to expand your expertise in a specialized, procedural cardiac setting? Join our growing Echocardiography team in this exciting role where you'll play a key part in delivering exceptional patient care during advanced cardiovascular procedures.

What You'll Do:

• Assist with and support Transesophageal Echocardiograms (TEEs), Cardioversions, & Stress Tests
• Provide skilled nursing care before, during, and after procedures
• Collaborate closely with physicians, sonographers, and multidisciplinary team members
• Utilize independent judgment, critical thinking, and clinical expertise to support patient safety and positive outcomes
• Help meet the evolving needs of a dynamic and growing department

• Admits, monitors, and recovers patients who have all Stress Tests, Transesophageal Echocardiography, Cardioversion, prep Tilt Table, and Loop Recorders for UnityPoint Health Des Moines.
• Exert independent judgment and is responsible for patient and staff safety while complying with exam performance policy. Assists management when requested in the development of new exam procedures.  (i.e. Echocardiography). 
• Assists, when available, with yearly in-service and competencies.
• Demonstrates a professional attitude when performing duties. Demonstrates self-development by keeping informed of current cardiovascular trends.
• Maintains equipment, supplies and logs assisted exams.
• Develops, performs and assists new areas as determined by the Cardiovascular Department.
• Educates staff in code procedures and utilization of emergency equipment. Directs and assist all crash/procedure carts for UnityPoint Health System.  Collaborate with EKG Department in daily monitoring of crash carts. 
• Recognizes isolation situations and takes appropriate precautions per current hospital policy.
• Cleans with approved cleaning agent, stocks equipment and outpatient exam area.
• Attends department meetings, hospital in-services and education offerings to maintain clinical expertise.

Education:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or IA Board of Nursing approved nursing program. 

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa 
• BLS certified
• ACLS certified
• Current Valid Driver's License and car insurance may be required when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Experience:

• At least 1 year ICU, ER, or Procedural area experience.
• Cardiac experience preferred.

Other: 

• Level 3 Medium Work:  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
