Open positions: EMT and Paramedic with Ground EMS

Schedules: Day shifts are 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. or 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Overnight shifts are 7:00 p.m.–7:00 a.m.

Role Details:

Paramedic

As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will contribute professional prehospital EMS knowledge and skills to patients and their families. You will provide a high standard of patient care during non-emergent ambulance transportation, as well as patient care and transportation in a hospital setting.

EMT

As a valued member of our interdisciplinary team, you will use your prehospital emergency medical skills to assess, treat, and care for patients while offering reassurance to their families during critical moments. You will make confident clinical decisions and deliver high-quality care in accordance with the Iowa EMS Scope of Practice, your certification level, and hospital policies.

Paramedic

• Assess patient and family needs and provide appropriate prehospital medical care within certification level, approved protocols, and medical director oversight.
• Accurately communicate and document patient observations, care provided, and medical treatment.
• Maintain ambulance, equipment, and supply readiness through required inspections, inventories, cleaning, testing, and restocking.
• Support quality assurance and improvement by reviewing patient care reports according to department standards.
• Provide non-emergent ambulance transportation and assist with patient care and transport in the hospital emergency department and other assigned settings.

EMT-B

• Provides non-emergent patient care transfers

• Reports, verbally and in writing, observations and medical care of the patient. Provides accurate medical documentation of all emergency medical treatment provided.

• May be assigned various administrative and/or hospital duties which may include, but is not limited to: inventory and ordering supplies, squad readiness checks/testing’s and inventories; verifying that ambulance and its contents are in proper working condition; maintain familiarity with specialized equipment, etc.

• Participates in Quality Assurance/Quality Initiative processes by properly reviewing patient care reports as set forth by department standards.

• Assists in providing assistance in the hospital emergency department

• Operates at level of certification as allowed by protocol with medical director approval (EMT/Paramedic).

• Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Paramedic Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent and successful completion of an approved EMS training course.
• Previous EMS experience.
• Current Iowa EMT-Paramedic certification, National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians certification, Critical Care Paramedic Endorsement, and PHTLS and PEARS certifications.
• Valid Iowa driver’s license held for at least three years, at least two years of driving experience, and an acceptable or clear Motor Vehicle Record rating.
• No disqualifying driving offenses within the past five years, including alcohol- or drug-related offenses, reckless or careless driving, excessive speeding, fleeing or eluding, chemical test refusal, leaving an accident scene, driving while suspended or revoked, or passing a stopped school bus.

EMT-B Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• New Graduates welcome or At least 1 year experience as EMT preferred
• Certification as an EMT Required.
• Basic Life Support Certification Healthcare Provider Level.
• Valid Iowa Driver’s License.
