• Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate education and referrals to support continuity of care.
• Develops an individualized plan of care in collaboration with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary healthcare team.
• Delivers high-quality patient care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating the specialized knowledge and clinical skills required for the role.
• Promptly and accurately completes documentation to ensure a complete legal record of patient care.
• Utilizes a holistic approach to care, considering the biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, and safety needs of patients and families.
• Utilizes critical thinking to make independent clinical judgments while maintaining responsibility and accountability for assigned patients.
• Demonstrates a commitment to patient and workplace safety by preventing errors, accidents, and infections and promptly reporting potential or actual concerns.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited RN program required.
• BSN degree preferred.

Experience:

• One year of hospital clinical experience required.

License(s)/Certification(s):

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in good standing in the primary state required.
• Must apply for RN licensure in the secondary state within 90 days.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
• Illinois Sexual Assault Certification of Completion required within one year of attending Didactic Training.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity and a customer/patient-focused approach.
• Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to use independent judgment in decision-making.
• Occasional travel to other UPH facilities may be required.
