We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Colorectal Surgery Clinic at our growing Med Park in Waukee! This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a newer facility and growing team while providing specialized, patient-centered care to individuals undergoing colorectal and surgical treatment. Whether you have prior surgical or gastrointestinal nursing experience or are looking to grow your skills in a specialty setting, we welcome your application.

In this role, you will triage and assess patient needs, coordinate perioperative and postoperative care, and support patients and families throughout their care journey. You’ll work closely with colorectal surgeons and a multidisciplinary team in a collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality care and an exceptional patient experience.

• Triage patient calls and messages, assessing symptoms and determining appropriate level of care.
• Assess preoperative readiness and identify concerns that may impact surgical outcomes.
• Coordinate preoperative testing, surgical scheduling, and postoperative follow-up.
• Collaborate with colorectal surgeons to address urgent patient concerns and postoperative complications.
• Coordinate care with primary care, gastroenterology, wound/ostomy, oncology, and other specialties as needed.
• Provide patient and family education on diagnoses, procedures, bowel prep, medications, wound and ostomy care, diet, and activity.
• Document patient assessments, education, care plans, and follow-up in the electronic health record.
• Monitor labs, imaging, and pathology results and coordinate timely provider review and patient follow-up.

• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
• Experience: All levels of RN experience will be considered. Prior experience in surgery or specialty care is a plus, but not required.
• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
