Assists in leading the day-to-day operations of the department. Schedules, supports and develops staff members. Collaborates with physicians/offices and other health care workers, to provide medical imaging and patient care while maintaining professional standards.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates rooms/schedules/staffing to compliment patient care needs.  Accountable for staffing needs and work schedules.  Reviews and approves payroll.  Helps with staff education/in-services/specialized skilled training programs.  Assists in the hiring and orientation program of newly hired staff.  
  • Provides leadership by directing, coordinating and delegating patient care in an organized manner, allowing for flexibility.  Acts as manager when manager is absent.  Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule. 
  • Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.  Responsible to maintain current professional expertise.  Promotes personal and professional growth among coworkers.  Exhibits discretion and sound judgment in all aspects of the job. 
  • Creates an environment that promotes staff empowerment.  Displays creativity and innovation when making recommendations for improvement in the delivery of services to the hospital.  Is able to instruct and lead the staff so that a high level of productivity is maintainedintervening when necessary, to problem solve

Qualifications

Education: 

  • HS diploma or equivalent required

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred 

Experience:

  • Clinically proficient as a sonographer in performing diagnostic procedures, including vascular ultrasound, on patients of all ages.   
  • Prefer 1-2 years of experience in US in the hospital environment, and demonstrated leadership abilities of transitioning from peer to supervisor position. 

Licenses/Certifications: 

  • Certified and holds current registration with the ARDMS or the ARRT in Sonography. 
  • Preferred RVT certified.
