Overview

UnityPoint Health is seeking an experienced and collaborative nursing executive to serve as Market Chief Nursing Officer for the Quad Cities market. Reporting to the Market President and partnering closely with the Market Chief Medical Officer, the CNO provides executive leadership for nursing and clinical care across UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Trinity Moline, Trinity Bettendorf and Trinity Muscatine.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned nursing leader to make a meaningful impact across a complex, multi-campus market. The CNO will lead strategies to advance quality, safety, patient experience, nursing excellence, workforce engagement and professional practice. Key priorities include strengthening quality and safety performance, advancing CMS Star Rating performance, optimizing the nursing workforce, strengthening shared governance and developing a strong leadership bench.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership and strategic direction for nursing and clinical care across the Quad Cities market.
  • Partner with the Market CMO and physician, clinical and operational leaders to advance quality, safety, patient experience and organizational performance.
  • Lead initiatives to improve clinical quality and safety outcomes, including strategies to strengthen CMS Star Rating performance.
  • Advance nursing workforce optimization, engagement, professional practice and shared governance.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing nursing leadership team, with a focus on strengthening director and manager capabilities and succession planning.
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability for execution of nursing, clinical and organizational priorities.
  • Lead significant clinical initiatives from strategy through implementation, using data and measurable outcomes to evaluate success.
  • Build strong relationships across disciplines and campuses to create alignment, facilitate change and strengthen collaboration.
  • Partner effectively with physician leaders through a collaborative clinical dyad model.
  • Serve as an active member of the System CNO leadership team and contribute to nursing strategy and clinical excellence across UnityPoint Health.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing required.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure as required for the position.
  • Progressive nursing leadership experience within a hospital or health system environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading clinical, quality, safety and nursing performance initiatives with measurable results.
  • Experience leading and developing nursing leaders and building high-performing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change, establish accountability and successfully execute strategic priorities.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and executive leadership skills.
  • Experience partnering with physicians and other senior clinical and operational leaders.
