Patient Care Technician – Med/Surg
Marshalltown Hospital
Department: Med/Surg
Schedule: : Part Time | 12 hours per week | 6:00 PM–6:30 AM | 1 shift per week | Every 3rd weekend and holiday rotation

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, mobility, toileting, and other personal care needs.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, weights, intake and output, and other patient information.
  • Respond to call lights and patient requests with compassion, professionalism, and attention to safety.
  • Assist with clinical tasks such as blood glucose testing, specimen collection, pulse oximetry, EKGs, and simple dressings as trained and directed.
  • Observe patients and promptly communicate changes in condition or other important information to the nursing team.
  • Safely assist with patient mobility, transfers, transport, admissions, discharges, and procedures.
  • Accurately document patient care and observations in the electronic medical record.
  • Help prepare patient rooms and care areas while maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked environment.
  • Collaborate with nurses and other members of the healthcare team to support coordinated, patient- and family-centered care.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Completion of RN/Education lead training Day within 6 months of hire

This position does not get reported with Direct Care Workers (DCW).
