Shift: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm, for 80 hours per pay period.

As a Surgical Care Technician, you will help create a safe, efficient, and sterile operating environment by assisting with room turnover, patient transport, and the preparation of surgical equipment and supplies. Working alongside skilled healthcare professionals, you’ll play an essential role in maintaining infection prevention standards, supporting surgical procedures, and ensuring a seamless perioperative experience for both patients and care teams.

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in delivering safe, efficient surgical care by preparing operating rooms, equipment, and supplies, transporting and positioning patients, applying basic monitoring, and supporting the surgical team throughout the perioperative process.  
  • Ensure timely patient flow and readiness for procedures. 
  • Maintain smooth surgical operations through efficient room turnover, instrument and case cart transport, linen management, and preparation of sterile supplies in accordance with AORN guidelines and infection prevention standards. 
  • Promote a clean, safe environment by disinfecting surgical areas, managing waste, maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies, and following PPE, isolation, and infection control protocols to protect patients, staff, and visitors. 

Qualifications

Education: 

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent degree required 

Experience: 

  • One (1) year of experience working in a hospital setting or a surgical unit or related field preferred.  

License(s)/Certification(s): 

  • Certified Nursing Assistant Certification through one of the following preferred: 
    • Tri State Nursing (TRN) 
    • Department of Inspections and Appeals (IADIA) 
    • Illinois Department of Health (IDPHH) 
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required 
  • IL & IA Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required within 90 days of hire. 
  • IL & IA Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care required within 90 days of hire.
