Clinical Assistant -EMT/Paramedic 

Urgent Care

Monday-Friday 3 x 12 hour shifts

3 days/week 8AM-8M + weekend/holiday rotation

We are seeking a compassionate, adaptable, and patient-focused Clinical Assistant to join our busy Urgent Care team in Ankeny. In this fast-paced role, you’ll work closely with providers and clinical staff to deliver efficient, high-quality care to patients with a wide variety of acute and urgent medical needs. From welcoming and preparing patients for their visit to obtaining vital signs, assisting with treatments and minor procedures, coordinating follow-up care, and providing patient education, you’ll play an important role in keeping care moving and making every patient feel supported.

• Room patients, obtain medical history, review of systems, vital signs, and complete required screening questions.
• Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and minor procedures.
• Assist providers and clinical staff with patient care and in-office procedures.
• Collect blood and other specimens and prepare them for laboratory testing.
• Administer medications and vaccinations within scope of practice and competency.
• Complete provider orders, clinical tasks, and documentation accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Assist with lab results, follow-up care, and tracking of patient appointments and testing.
• Coordinate referrals and complete required documentation and requisitions.
• Provide patient and family education and answer questions as directed by the provider.
• Work collaboratively with the care team to provide efficient, compassionate, and high-quality patient care.

• Current Iowa and/or National certification as EMT and/or Paramedic
  • Current and Active Permit to Practice/License in state of practice
• Clinical experience preferred!
• Epic experience a plus!
• For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
