We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic Endocrinology team at the Methodist Hospital Specialty Clinic. This is a great opportunity for nurses who are passionate about patient-centered care and interested in developing their skills in the endocrinology specialty. Whether you bring prior experience in endocrinology or are looking to expand your clinical knowledge in this field, we welcome your application.

 

In this role, you will help triage and assess patient needs, coordinate care, and support patients and families managing chronic and complex endocrine conditions. You’ll work closely with endocrinologists and other healthcare professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate incoming patient phone calls to determine the urgency of symptoms and appropriate next steps.
  • Provide telephone triage and guide patients to the appropriate level of care or follow-up.
  • Assess patient concerns related to diabetes, thyroid disorders, hormonal imbalances, medication changes, and other endocrine conditions.
  • Assist in coordinating care for patients with complex or chronic endocrine conditions, including diabetes, thyroid disorders, adrenal disorders, osteoporosis, and other hormonal conditions.
  • Communicate efficiently with endocrinologists and clinical team members to ensure timely and effective care.
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments, testing, referrals, and other aspects of the patient’s plan of care.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on endocrine conditions, treatment plans, medications, lifestyle modifications, and strategies for managing chronic conditions.
  • Reinforce diabetes self-management, including blood glucose monitoring, medication adherence, and recognizing signs and symptoms that require additional medical attention.
  • Accurately document patient interactions, assessments, education, and care plans using the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Follow up with patients regarding test results, medication changes, treatment plans, and provider recommendations.
  • Track patient outcomes and coordinate follow-up care to promote continuity and positive health outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RN) – Active/Unencumbered RN license in state of practice or compact license including state of practice.
  • All levels of RN experience will be considered. Prior experience in endocrinology, diabetes care, or specialty care is a plus, but not required.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing.
