The Registered Nurse (RN) Nursing Professional Development Associate is responsible for identifying learning needs and assisting with the delivery and evaluation of evidence-based orientation, onboarding, competency, and continuing education programs across care settings. Applies current best practices and clinical standards to educational activities and utilizes simulation and other learning modalities to enhance skill development. Collaborates with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary team members to help align education with organizational strategy and priorities, regulatory requirements, and quality and safety goals, while contributing to the monitoring of outcomes and continuous improvement of educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Encourages critical thinking and problem solving among team members.
  • Assists in the development and evaluation of clinical orientation for team members in collaboration with nursing leadership and preceptors.
  • Supports the coordination, delivery, and evaluation of education provided to team members using formal and informal teaching methods, including simulation and justintime learning.
  • Contributes to the development and refinement of competencybased education and assessment tools.
  • Participates in assessing learning needs related to system issues and performance variances.
  • Reviews education session evaluations and identifies opportunities to enhance learning.
  • Assists in creating educational materials, learning activities, and modules that align with organizational criteria.
  • Supports the UPH system strategy by being involved with workgroups and deploy the education in your market, as appropriate. 
  • Helps coordinate educational programs offered within the organization and collaborates on departmentspecific education efforts.
  • Participates on committees that support planning, problem-solving, or service line/organizational initiatives.
  • Plans, implements, facilitates, and evaluates assigned education programs while helping to sustain an environment of ongoing learning, empowerment, and shared decision-making.
  • Mentors team members in basic adult learning principles and competencybased education.
  • Provides support through informal mentoring, justintime teaching, and guidance related to professional growth or academic pathways.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited BSN program may be considered with completion within 2 years of hire.
  • In lieu of a BSN, can accept 2 years of experience as an RN with 2 years of experience teaching adult learners.

Credentials:

  • Valid RN license in the state(s) of practice, including eligibility under a NLC multistate license Required
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Required

  • Nursing Professional Development RN-BC Preferred

  • IA Mandatory Reporter Training Required

Experience:

  • Clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting with proven teaching expertise or experience in educational programming, including teaching adult learners and designing/developing learning materials required.
