Position coordinates and directs interfacility medical transport of patients of various acuities. Transport modes include air and ground, and are generally facilitated by Life Flight helicopter and/or Alliance ambulance.

Emergency Dispatch Support:
Receives, dispatches, and records all requests for emergency and other assistance for IMMC, ILH, MW, and BCH, to include the following:
Life Flight
Unity Point Ground Ambulance
Neonatal and Pediatric Transport
Ambulance reports
Operational Functions:
Able to pinpoint exact location of aircraft utilizing Flight Following processes as outlined by the FAA for purposes crashed or emergency landing of aircraft.
Initiate Life Flight PAIP (post-accident/incident plan) if unable to contact aircraft with in designated time frame.
Enter real time flight following information on vendor website to be compliant with operational control.
Emergency Preparedness:
Assists as directed in Emergency Department Alerts, internal and external disasters
Accurately prioritizes and multi-tasks while performing emergency procedures and dispatching
Makes computer CAD entries, written reports and logs with pertinent information of all incidents including the notification of supervisors
Trauma Alerts
Cardiac Alerts
Monitor ED. LF and ambulance garage security cameras
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent Required.
Experience:
Working knowledge of computers with basic proficiency Working knowledge of radio communications and radio terminology is preferred.
Previous dispatch experience.
Knowledge of EMS community.
Experience in aviation operations.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Paramedic certification or equivalent experience.
Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
Other:
Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
Working knowledge of radio communications and radio terminology is preferred.
