As a Surgical Scheduling Nurse, you’ll work closely with providers and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate surgical schedules, manage scheduling needs, and ensure accurate documentation. This role is ideal for an RN who is highly organized, communicates effectively, and enjoys collaborating across departments to help ensure a smooth and efficient surgical process.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately identifies patients and enters scheduling information into the computerized scheduling system.
  • Identifies and coordinates special needs for each patient prior to surgery.
  • Reviews the surgery schedule and completes pre-op phone calls with patients.
  • Provides high-quality nursing care using the nursing process and established standards of care.
  • Educates patients and families on procedures, medications, treatment plans, and pre-op instructions.
  • Coordinates care and follow-up needs with providers and other members of the healthcare team.
  • Uses critical thinking and clinical judgment to promote patient safety and address individual patient needs.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.

Experience:

  • 2 years of acute clinical nursing experience required.
  • Critical care, telemetry, oncology, OB/GYN, or pediatric experience preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Valid RN license in state(s) of practice; dual licensure required within 90 days, if applicable.
  • BLS certification preferred.
  • Required Mandatory Reporter Training for state(s) of practice.
