The Pharmacy Automation/IT Technician is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the automated medication distribution systems to achieve high quality standard of care in pharmacy medication storage and distribution. Provides ongoing monitoring of processes surrounding the automated distribution of medications, inventory usage, management of automated dispensing cabinets, hospital information systems, and other IT systems as assigned. Collaborates in developing training and education programs for pharmacy and clinical staff and students.

Education:
Must be high school graduate or equivalent.
Must be able to proficiently read, write and speak English.
Must have good math skills, with basic algebra.
Must type accurately and with moderate speed.
Experience:
Experience with automated dispensing machines required.
Ability to work with computer systems required.
One year of experience in a hospital pharmacy required.
License(s)/Certification(s):
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required.
Must be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy within thirty days after employment.
Must maintain a current Iowa Pharmacy Technician Registration and be in good standing with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners.
Must provide a photocopy of a renewal certificate to the Pharmacy Management Team prior to the expiration date of current certificate to continue employment.
Must maintain a valid Iowa driver’s license in order to service all campuses.
