Overview

Approx 20 hours/week; flexible schedule typically between the hours of 8:00 to 4:30 M-F

 

Provides a school-based child abuse prevention program in Linn County and surrounding counties. The program gives children the knowledge and skills to decrease their risk for abuse and encourages those who have been victims to report the abuse.  Ensures that the material presented is in alignment with best practices in the field. Works closely with school staff to ensure success of the program.

Responsibilities

Community Education

  • Collaborates with teachers/counselors to schedule presentations, answer questions, and distribute information.
  • Conducts Safetouch presentations throughout the school year for children in pre-school through fifth grade.
  • Provides teachers/counselors with a survey to evaluate Safetouch presentations. Utilizes survey results and feedback to make program improvements on an ongoing basis.

Professional Development

  • Engages in professional development activities that will improve skills, shares information with colleagues, and utilizes newly acquired knowledge to enhance services provided.

Basic UPH Performance Criteria        

  • Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, JCAHO, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: Bachelors degree in the behavioral sciences.

 

Experience:

Prefer one year of experience in the child abuse field.
