Are you passionate about making a real impact in your community? Marshalltown Hospital Emergency Medical Services is seeking a driven EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic to join our exceptional team. Our service operates a fleet of seven ambulances and one SUV, providing critical 911 emergency response throughout Marshall County and portions of Jasper and Grundy Counties. We also provide interfacility transport services for several UnityPoint Health locations.

 

With more than 7,000 calls and incidents each year, you'll encounter a wide variety of patients and situations, offering opportunities to build your skills while making a meaningful difference every day. Our ambulances are equipped with advanced technology, including the Stryker Power-LOAD System, Zoll cardiac monitors, LUCAS CPR devices, and Parapac ventilators.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate prehospital medical care.
  • Adapts and adjusts the patient’s care plan according to the patient’s needs in the prehospital setting.
  • Promptly completes documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
  • Carries out high quality patient care while following the scope of practice set out by the State of Iowa Public Health Department Bureau of EMS and this ambulance service.
  • Must be able to transport a behavioral health patient utilizing an ambulance or secure car.

Qualifications

EMT Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid chauffer’s driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • Current Iowa certification as an EMT.
  • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
  • Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.

 

Advanced EMT Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Valid chauffer’s driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • Current certification as Iowa Advanced-EMT.
  • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
  • Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.

 

Paramedic Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of EMS training from an approved training course.
  • Valid Iowa Chauffeur’s License.
  • Current certification at EMT-PM level is required.
  • Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English.
  • Basic computer knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser.
