Overview

Shift: 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM; Weekend package (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday)

Join our team at the Robert Young Center as a QMHP Crisis Clinician! The Crisis Clinician (Qualified Mental Health Professional – QMHP) provides crisis assessment, intervention, and care coordination for individuals experiencing acute psychiatric emergencies. This role delivers trauma-informed care, completes crisis assessments, evaluates safety risks, determines appropriate levels of care, and collaborates with providers and community partners to support client needs.

The QMHP advocates for clients by coordinating services, facilitating referrals, and supporting continuity of care through collaboration with emergency departments, medical teams, and behavioral health partners. This position plays a key role in providing compassionate, timely support to individuals during behavioral health crises.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct telehealth and face-to-face crisis assessments to evaluate client needs and determine appropriate levels of care.
  • Complete outpatient assessments and treatment planning to connect clients with appropriate behavioral health services.
  • Advocate for clients by providing support, brief counseling, resources, and assistance navigating services during times of crisis.
  • Provide timely referrals and coordinate connections to community resources, inpatient services, and ongoing treatment.
  • Collaborate with providers, service agencies, and care teams to support continuity of care and client needs.
  • Provide clinical supervision to team members as needed in accordance with state requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with UnityPoint Health policies, documentation standards, safety guidelines, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education:
  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a related field
    OR
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program

License(s)/Certification(s):

  • Must be licensed in both Illinois and Iowa in good standing to practice.
    • Illinois: Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Registered Nurse (RN)
    • Iowa: Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Temporary Licensed Mental Health Counselor (tLMHC), or Registered Nurse (RN)
  • CPR certification required.
  • CPI certification required within 6 months of hire.
  • Must obtain and maintain IM+CANS certification per Illinois Medicaid requirements.

Experience:

  • Completion of appropriate internship and/or practicum program for Master’s level degree.
  • Mental health or psychiatric experience preferred.
