The Surgical Technologist I-Certified is responsible for preparing and maintaining the operating room, supporting in patient preparation, and deploying sterile techniques throughout the procedure to ensure a sterile and safe surgical environment. The role works as an integral part of the surgical team, anticipating the surgeon's needs, handling specimens, and assisting during surgery under the supervision of surgeons and perioperative team members. The role participates in continuous learning, supports infection control protocols, and ensures adherence to safety guidelines to improve patient outcomes and team efficiency.

The newly graduated Surgical Technologist must obtain certification within 12 months of hire date to maintain employment unless an extension has been granted by the OR Manager All grandfathered CST's must maintain CEU's as defined by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting. (60 CEU's every 4 years The CST must maintain an active certification throughout employment
