Overview

We’re seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist to join our team! This role will provide expert respiratory care to a diverse patient population across inpatient and outpatient settings, ranging from neonates to adults. The Therapist delivers safe, efficient, and compassionate respiratory therapies and diagnostic testing while maintaining equipment, documenting accurately, and collaborating with healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate respiratory status through physical assessment and medical history review, performing diagnostic tests such as ABGs, pulmonary function testing, and pulse oximetry 
  • Administer respiratory therapies—including medical gas delivery, nebulization, chest physiotherapy, airway management, and invasive/noninvasive ventilation—for neonatal through adult patients 
  • Monitor patient responses, adjust therapy as needed, manage artificial airways, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment to ensure safe, effective care 
  • Participate in emergency response teams, assist with internal patient transports, and maintain accurate EMR documentation 
  • Set up, maintain, clean, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment while promoting safety and adherence to infection control standards 
  • Serve as a preceptor for students and new staff, and participate in committees focused on quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical outcomes 

Qualifications

Education:  

  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program is required 
  • Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Care program is required 

Experience:  

  • None 

License(s)/Certification(s): 

  • Required Upon Hire: 
    • Must have current licensure in good standing to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in State(s) of Practice. 
      • Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation (IDFPR)  
      • Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH)  
      • Iowa Board of Respiratory Care and Polysomnography (IBRC)  
      • Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (WIDSPS) 
    • Certified Resp Therapy Technician by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) 
  • Required within 90 Days of Hire: 
    • Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training in state(s) where providing care 
    • Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter training in state(s) where providing care 
    • Must possess and maintain one of the following through American Heart Association (AHA)  
      • Basic Life Support (BLS)  
      • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification 
    • If specializing in pediatric/neonatal critical care medicine must have PALS (AHA) or NRP Certification (AAP)
