Responsibilities

The Mammography Technologist II performs screening and diagnostic mammography procedures, including stereotactic biopsies, under the direction of a radiologist. This role provides compassionate, patient-centered care while ensuring high-quality imaging and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

 

  • Perform screening and diagnostic mammography procedures, including stereotactic biopsies
  • Operate mammography equipment and ensure high-quality imaging
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care across all age groups
  • Conduct quality control checks and monitor equipment performance
  • Identify and report equipment issues or safety concerns
  • Communicate clearly with patients, radiologists, and healthcare team members
  • Review patient orders and recognize abnormalities using critical thinking

Additional Duties

  • Support departmental operations and workflow
  • Assist with training and mentoring students or staff
  • Maintain supplies and ensure equipment cleanliness and readiness
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and radiation safety standards

Qualifications

Education

  • Completion of an accredited hospital program

Licenses & Certifications

  • Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT – RTR) (upon hire)
  • Registered Mammography Technologist (ARRT – RTM) (upon hire)
  • Breast ultrasound certification preferred, not required
  • State Permit to Practice Radiologic Exams (upon hire)
  • BCLS certification (within 30 days of hire)
  • Mandatory Reporter – Child Abuse (within 90 days)
  • Mandatory Reporter – Adult Abuse (within 90 days)
