We are seeking a versatile and patient-focused clinical professional to join our family medicine clinic. This position may be filled by a Radiologic Technologist or a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with Limited Radiography certification.
This role is primarily lab-focused, with responsibility for performing and supporting daily laboratory operations. The individual will also assist with diagnostic imaging as needed and provide clinical support (rooming, vitals, etc.) during periods of high patient volume. The ideal candidate is flexible, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Perform and support daily laboratory operations, including specimen collection, processing, and documentation
Ensure accurate labeling, handling, and tracking of lab specimens in accordance with established protocols
Maintain lab equipment, perform quality control checks, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards
Perform diagnostic x-ray procedures as needed using proper exposure techniques (mA, kVp, time, and distance)
Follow radiation safety standards and apply appropriate protection practices for patients and staff
Prepare patients for lab work, imaging, and exams, clearly explaining procedures to ensure comfort and understanding
Assist providers during exams and minor procedures as needed
Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document medical histories in the electronic health record (EHR) as needed
Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments within scope of licensure
Support preventive care, chronic disease management, and patient education
Maintain sterile technique and infection control standards across lab and clinical activities
Maintain accurate documentation for lab, imaging, and patient care activities
Coordinate lab send-outs, referrals, and follow-up care to support continuity of care
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab and clinical environment
Collaborate with providers and care teams to ensure efficient clinic flow and high-quality patient care
Registered Radiologic Technologist with current ARRT certification
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) with valid certification and graduation of an accredited program and Limited Radiography permit (State of Iowa)
Current Iowa permit to practice radiologic technology (full or limited scope, as applicable)
Prior experience in a family medicine, primary care, or outpatient setting preferred
Experience with laboratory procedures, specimen handling, or phlebotomy strongly preferred
Familiarity with EHR systems (e.g., Epic) preferred
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and multitasking skills
Ability to adapt to shifting priorities between lab, imaging, and patient care support
Knowledge of radiation safety, infection control, and clinical best practices
