We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our general surgery team at the Methodist Hospital Specialty Clinic. This role is ideal for nurses who are passionate about patient-centered care and interested in developing their skills in surgical specialty care. Both experienced surgical nurses and those looking to expand their clinical knowledge are encouraged to apply.
In this role, you will assess patient needs, coordinate surgical care, and support patients and families throughout the pre-operative and post-operative process. You will work closely with surgeons and the clinical team to ensure safe, timely, and effective patient care.
• Assess incoming patient calls to determine urgency of symptoms or concerns.
• Provide telephone triage for post-operative issues such as pain, wound concerns, or possible complications.
• Direct patients to appropriate care, including clinic follow-up, urgent evaluation, or emergency services when needed.
• Coordinate care for patients before and after surgical procedures.
• Collaborate with surgeons, providers, and clinical staff to ensure timely care.
• Assist with scheduling procedures, diagnostic tests, and referrals.
• Educate patients and caregivers on surgical procedures, pre-operative preparation, and post-operative recovery.
• Provide guidance on wound care, medications, activity restrictions, and warning signs of complications.
• Document patient interactions, assessments, and care plans in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Monitor recovery and coordinate follow-up appointments to ensure continuity of care.
• Communicate patient updates and concerns with the surgical team.
