Full Time 

Rotating Shift, will include nights and weekends

 

This position has considerable knowledge of and is responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repair of all kinds and types of power generation equipment and systems and central plant equipment.  Coordinates, educates, mentors, and monitors the work of others and performs other skilled work of considerable difficulty at all facilities. This position completes regulatory testing and documentation reports related to power generation systems and is responsible for overseeing the regulatory testing of these systems at all locations. This position will be the point person for all power plant on-call issues and emergency response coordination. Must utilize good communication and customer relation skills.  Will be on call for off-shifts (6 pm to 7 am on weekdays) and weekends.  Must meet minimum requirements for on call which includes a 30-minute response time from activation/call to hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Under minimal supervision is responsible for the safety, reliability and operation of power generating equipment and associated electrical switchgear. This includes building automation systems, low pressure steam boilers, high pressure steam boilers, chillers, cooling towers, water treatment, etc. and the associated pumps, valves, and distribution systems located in the central utility plant and throughout all facilities as well as any other assigned equipment and systems located throughout all facilities.
  • Educates and oversees training of all plant operations personal for any items located in the facility.
  • Leads regulatory testing of emergency power generating equipment and switchgear at all facilities in coordination with other plant operations employees.
  • Actively participates in the design and construction of any mechanical systems located in or impacting the central utility plant. This includes, but is not limited to, engineering review, design feasibility analysis, and oversite of contractors in the plant.
  • Point person for any on-call issues, escalations or emergencies located within the facility.
  • Assist in moving furniture, equipment, etc.
  • Perform competency testing in their area of specialization and provide training for other plant operations staff.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Diploma or certificate from a two year technical school or recognized equivalent correspondence course in Central Utilities Plant Safety and Maintenance.

Experience:

  • 5 years working in the maintenance and/or repair field with 1 year working in a Utilities Plant setting.

License/Certification:

  • Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
  • Must possess Hydronic 1st Class license.
