Responsibilities

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic OBGYN team at the Methodist Hospital Specialty Clinic. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses who are passionate about women’s health and patient-centered care. Whether you have prior experience in obstetrics and gynecology or are looking to expand your clinical knowledge in this specialty, we welcome your application.

In this role, you will triage and assess patient needs, coordinate care, and support patients through all stages of women’s health — including routine gynecologic care, pregnancy, and complex reproductive health concerns. You will work closely with OBGYN physicians, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Patient Assessment & Triage

  • Evaluate incoming patient calls to determine urgency of symptoms such as pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, pregnancy-related concerns, or postoperative issues.

  • Provide telephone triage and guide patients to the appropriate level of care, appointment scheduling, or emergency services when needed.

Care Coordination

  • Assist in coordinating care for prenatal, postpartum, gynecologic, and surgical patients.

  • Support urgent and same-day patient needs.

  • Communicate efficiently with OBGYN providers and clinical team members to ensure timely and effective care.

Patient & Family Education

  • Educate patients on pregnancy care, postpartum recovery, contraception options, menopause management, surgical procedures, and preventive health screenings.

  • Provide guidance on medications, treatment plans, and at-home care instructions.

  • Offer compassionate support during sensitive or complex health situations.

Clinical Documentation & Follow-Up

  • Accurately document all patient interactions, assessments, and care plans in the electronic health record (EHR).

  • Track lab results, imaging, and referrals.

  • Coordinate follow-up appointments to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
  • Experience: All levels of RN experience will be considered. Prior experience in OBGYN or specialty care is a plus, but not required.
  • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
