Responsibilities

We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic OB/GYN team at the Methodist Hospital Specialty Clinic. This is a wonderful opportunity for nurses who are passionate about women’s health and patient-centered care, and who are interested in growing their skills within an OB/GYN specialty setting. Whether you bring prior experience in obstetrics and gynecology or are eager to expand your clinical knowledge in this field, we welcome your application.

In this role, you will support patients across a wide range of women’s health needs, including routine gynecologic care, prenatal and postpartum care, and management of acute and chronic conditions. You will work closely with OB/GYN providers and the interdisciplinary care team in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Patient Assessment & Triage

  • Evaluate incoming patient phone calls to assess symptoms, pregnancy-related concerns, and gynecologic issues, determining urgency and appropriate next steps.
  • Provide telephone triage and guidance related to obstetric concerns (e.g., bleeding, contractions, decreased fetal movement) and gynecologic symptoms.

Care Coordination

  • Assist in coordinating urgent and emergent care for obstetric and gynecologic patients, including prenatal complications and acute gynecologic conditions.
  • Communicate effectively with OB/GYN providers and clinical team members to ensure timely, safe, and coordinated care.

Patient & Family Education

  • Educate patients and families on pregnancy, postpartum care, reproductive health, gynecologic conditions, and treatment plans.
  • Provide supportive counseling, anticipatory guidance, and resources tailored to each patient’s individual needs.

Clinical Documentation & Follow-Up

  • Accurately document patient assessments, communications, and care plans in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments, test results, and ongoing care to promote continuity and positive patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
  • Experience: All levels of RN experience will be considered. Prior experience in OB/GYN or specialty care is a plus, but not required.
  • Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
