Responsibilities

 

 
  • Safety Leadership: Manage emergency room for both hospitals.
  • Security Oversight: Direct the Security Department and step in for shift coverage when needed.
  • Switchboard Management: Oversee UnityPoint Health-Marshalltown’s switchboard operations.
  • Budget & Performance: Own departmental budgets, FTE oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Qualifications

Education:

One of the following:

  • A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice law enforcement with 2 years’ experience in law enforcement.
  • An associate degree in criminal justice with 3-5 years’ experience in law enforcement.
  • 6-10 years’ experience in law enforcement.

Licensure/Certification:

One of the following:

  • HSO (Certified Healthcare Security Officer) within 6 months of employment; CAHSO (Certified Advance Healthcare Security Officer) within 1 year of employment; or CHSS (Certified Healthcare Security Supervisor) within 1 and a half year of employment.
  • Non-Professional Permit to Carry Weapons per Iowa Code Chapter 724.
  • Annual Firearm qualification documentation

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of law enforcement experience with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice law enforcement.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of law enforcement experience with a associates degree in criminal justice law enforcement.
  • Minimum 6-10 years of law enforcement experience if there is no prior criminal justice education.

Other:

  • Must have all NIMS compliant classes taken within 1 year.
  • Must be certified in basic CPR.
  • Must have CPI/MOAB training after being awarded the position.
  • Must maintain annual refreshers in CPI/MOAB and annual restraint competencies.
