Overview

Telemetry Technician

Part-time, night shifts

Shift: (4) 7pm-7am shifts per pay period

 

Will be responsible for observing patient monitors in unit for abnormalities in heart rate & rhythm, blood pressure and other changes and communicating appropriately. Will also be responsible for applying telemetry equipment to patient utilizing proper lead placement and maintaining monitoring equipment for daily use.

Responsibilities

· Observes monitors for: Abnormalities/changes in heart rate and rhythm, Equipment malfunction, SPO2 levels, Blood pressure

· Responds immediately and appropriately to monitor observations

· Communicates effectively and maintains confidentiality in interpersonal relationships with patients and other members of the healthcare team.

· Maintains monitoring equipment for daily use, i.e., set up alarm system, changes batteries, changes paper, and cleans equipment.

· Functions in day-to-day and emergency situations in accordance with nursing standards and as assigned by the nurse.

· Communicates with other members of the healthcare team in order to ensure continuity of care and coordination of services.

· Participates in unit operations demonstrating professional behaviors to include supporting goals of nursing unit and maintaining awareness of resource utilization.

· Participates in non-direct patient care activities including educational activities, performance improvement activities, and other related activities.

Qualifications

Education:

High School Education

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

Scope Tech Course (provided at hospital) Basic Life Support

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Ability to exercise good judgement, maintain effective interpersonal relationships and adapt to change. Ability to organize work. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills required for specialized area of assignment. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care appropriate to adult and geriatric patients.

 

Other: Nurse call system, telephone and paging

system, office equipment, paper supplies, computer, and telemetry monitor.
