Location: June E. Nylen Cancer Center

Hours-Days Full-Time

 

Receives and processes written and faxed prescriptions from on-site physicians and nurse practitioners using Liberty Software. Verifies complete patient information to input into the computer and enters prescription data into computers. Processes 3rd party prescriptions and manages adjudication review.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide service/care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Helps health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests.
  • Receives and processes written prescriptions from on-site physicians and nurse practitioners using Liberty Software.
  • Verifies complete patient information to input into the computer and enters prescription data into computers.
  • Processes 3rd party prescriptions and manages adjudication review.
  • Retrieves inventory from shelf for processing.
  • Strictly adheres to quality control processes and procedures and consistently demonstrates attention to detail in following protocol for product preparation and dispensing.
  • Verifies and labels prescriptions by 8 point check.
  • Runs daily reports, weekly inventory tracking, and looks for expired medication.
  • Orders inventory and medication/dispensary supplies, and maintains a safe and clean dispensary

Qualifications

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required

 

Experience:

2 years of related work experience or education to replace work experience preferred

 

License(s)/Certification(s):

Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification or willing to obtain within 1st year of employment required

Registration with State of Iowa Board of Pharmacy or willing to obtain within 1st year of employment required
