Responsibilities

  • Examine and assess ill patients and determine urgency of care.  
  • Order necessary tests, assist with clinics, monitor and enter lab results. 
  • Assist with outreach clinics. 
  • Patient education 
  • Authorizations for tests and procedures 
  • Patient medication refills 
  • Patient correspondence and phone calls 
  • Assist in case management with multidisciplinary teams involved as necessary 
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records on computer and written as needed. 
  • Communicate to physicians, co-workers, patients, visitors and other departments in a professional manner. 
  • Accurately and promptly implement physicians’ orders. 
  • Make independent nursing judgements. 
  • Utilize critical thinking in making independent judgment, maintains responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients. 
  • Document patient care and patient response to nursing intervention in a clear, concise, legible manner, according to policy/procedure.  

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Experience:

  • Previous clinical nursing preferred

License(s)/Certification(s): 

  • Current Iowa licensure in good standing to practice as a registered nurse. 
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three (3) months from date of hire. 

Other: 

  • Level 3 Medium Work:  Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
